A crowd estimated at 1,500 people rallied at the State Capitol in downtown Atlanta on Nov. 15, sparked by the passage of the anti-gay Proposition 8 in California. The measure banned gay marriage in the state. Several hundred people later crowded the intersection of Piedmont Avenue and 10th Street for a candlelight vigil.
