Front Runners ponders locales for ‘09
The group behind the annual Pride Run/Walk is considering where to hold the 2009 version of the event.
Front Runners Atlanta, which moved the 5K event from its traditional home of Grant Park to Ansley Square this year, is studying where to hold the popular event next year, according to Southern Voice. If the run remains tied to Ansley, the course may change.

A few jocks among the Out 100

Brady Quinn as a gay punchline
Apparently straight bloggers with a flair for a gay joke.
Quinn, the hunky NFL quarterback who gets his first start on Thursday for the Cleveland Browns, has become the gay punchline for several straight sports blogs. Brady’s not gay, allegedly, but that’s not stopping the pundits at Deadspin, among others, who had this to say about his start:

Lisa Leslie makes stop at Charis
WNBA superstar Lisa Leslie, one of the league’s original players and the first to dunk, was in Atlanta last week to pitch her book “Don’t Let the Lipstick Fool You.”
The three-time Olympian and her husband, Michael Lockwood, stopped at Charis Books & More on Oct. 30. Lockwood, a pilot and former college basketball player, also has a new book, “Women Have All the Power.”
After winning a gold medal with the Women’s Olympic team in 1996 Olympics here in Atlanta, Leslie became one of the inaugural players of the Los Angeles Sparks when the WNBA launched in 1997.

Bucks drop two games from schedule
When it comes to numbers, the Atlanta Bucks Rugby Football Club is having some trouble lately.
The gay rugby squad, in the midst of its fall season, has pulled two home matches from its schedule. The Bucks canceled its Oct. 25 match against local rival High County when it became clear the club wouldn’t be able to field enough players to be competitive. In a bit of irony, the same thing happened to the Bucks for its Nov. 1 match against Charlotte. The North Carolina club dropped the match when they figured enough players weren’t available.

ATL team wins World Series appeal
A team from the Hotlanta Softball League at the center of a controversy from the Gay Softball World Series will keep its second place finish.
The Atlanta Mudcats finished second in the top division of the series, held in late August in Seattle. But they moved to that spot only after filing a protest contesting the number of straight players on D2, a team from the San Francisco Gay Softball League that beat the Mudcats to move into the championship game.
The North American Gay Amateur Athletic Association upheld the protest late last week, keeping in place the Mudcats and the disqualification of D2. The Los Angeles Vipers won the division.
